LAFS x MODA
The Latin American Fashion Summit (LAFS) was founded in 2018 to share the most exciting Latin American design talents with the rest of the world. Here, discover the work of three such talents, all of whom earned a coveted award from the 2023 LAFS. Included are ESCVDO, the Peruvian label—and winner of the Social Impact Project of the Year award—that employs local artisans to hand craft stunning works of elevated knitwear (some of which you’ll only find on Moda); Maria Elena Villamil, the eponymous designer whose artful creations—from chic utilitarian separates to vivid splashes of painterly prints—earned her the Latin Designer of the Year award; and Colombian jeweler Paola Sighinolfi, the recipient of the Accessories Designer of the Year award whose buttery 18K gold vermeil pieces blend precious stones from her native country with textured, retro, and coolly oversized silhouettes inspired by Barcelona, where she’s currently based.
