Ribbon Dinner Plate
The name Sprezz comes from the Italian concept of 'Sprezzatura,' meaning effortless elegance. By definition, Sprezzatura [Sprez • Za • Tu • Ra] implies a certain nonchalance. Today, the brand's goal is to create beautiful, high-quality tableware that brings moments of joy and sprezzatura to everyday life. Ribbon Collection designed by AD100 Designer Adam Charlap Hyman of Charlap Hyman & Herrero, New York and Los Angeles based architecture and design firm. The ribbons on the plates are inspired by a series of prints of citrus fruits made in the 17th and early 18th centuries. In the botanical illustrations, the ribbons bear the names of individual varieties of lemons, limes, oranges, bergamots, and grapefruits. We loved the idea of each of the ribbons appearing as if they had been blown across a table and landed perfectly on each plate. The ribbon design was originally painted by the artist Pilar Almon.
